Manorlogic is in development. We are preparing a first pilot estate in Nigeria; the resident and security apps are not yet in the app stores.

Getting started

What is Manorlogic?

Manorlogic is estate management software for gated residential estates in Nigeria. Residents create visitor passes on their phones, guards check them at the gate, and managers handle levies, parcels and notices in one web app. Changes to money, passes and gate records are logged with who made them. It is a Caramel Cove product and is in development.

Is Manorlogic live in any estate yet?

No. Manorlogic is built and tested, but no estate uses it yet. We are preparing a first pilot estate in Nigeria and choosing a small number of estates for it. We will not name an estate until it agrees in writing, and we do not publish usage figures because none exist. This page lists what is built and what is not.

How much does Manorlogic cost?

We have not set a public price. Pilot estates use Manorlogic free while we learn together, and the terms, including what happens after the pilot, are agreed in writing before you start. Tell us how many households you have and how you collect the levy, and we will tell you straight where things stand.

Who builds Manorlogic, and can we take our records out?

Manorlogic is a product of Caramel Cove Limited, which builds software products. Managers can export invoices, payments, households, tickets and gate events as spreadsheets. We have set no contractual terms for leaving a pilot. Those are agreed in writing before you start.

How do we bring our existing resident list in?

Bring your resident list in from a spreadsheet. A manager can import households and members from a CSV file. Past payments stay in your own records. If households carry balances forward, a manager can raise a one-off invoice for each.

Gate and visitors

How does a visitor pass work?

A resident creates a pass on their phone with the visitor's name, a phone number and a time window, and can make it single-entry. The pass has a QR code and a six-digit code, and the resident shares it, including on WhatsApp. The guard scans the QR or types the code, and the server refuses a pass that has expired, been cancelled or been used.

Does Manorlogic work without internet at the gate?

No. The gate app needs a connection. If the network drops, your guards use your existing paper process until it returns. Checking passes without a connection is planned and is not built. We would rather say so now than have your guards find out on a bad night.

Will our guards cope with the app?

A guard scans a pass or types six digits, and the screen shows a colour-coded yes or no with the reason. If your guards cannot use a phone, Manorlogic is not right for your gate yet. Read more on the page for security teams.

Does it work with boom barriers, cameras or number-plate readers?

Not yet. Gate cameras, plate reading and barrier control are being designed and are not built. Today a guard checks the pass and opens the gate. A guard can type a vehicle's plate as a note on a pass or a gate entry, but that is a typed note and not plate recognition.

Does Manorlogic text a pass to my visitor?

No. The resident shares the pass with the visitor from their own phone, including on WhatsApp. Sending passes by text message from the server is planned and not built. Households can opt in to a text-message back-up of the gate alert, where SMS is enabled, up to a daily limit.

Money

Can residents pay their service charge online?

Online payment through Paystack is built into Manorlogic and has not yet been used in a live estate. Residents do not have to pay online. Managers record cash and bank transfers against an invoice, or upload a bank statement and match its credits to invoices. Card details are handled by Paystack and are not stored by Manorlogic.

Does it send invoices and payment reminders automatically?

No. A manager generates the month's invoices in one step, so nothing is created automatically. Automatic monthly invoices are planned. Payment reminders to residents are not built either, and text-message reminders are planned. Managers see the arrears report, which shows who owes what and for how long, and follow up themselves.

What is the difference between service charge, levy and estate dues?

Estates use these words loosely. In Manorlogic, service charge and levy both mean the recurring fee a household pays for shared services, and estate dues is another common name for it. Your estate's governing documents decide what each means for you, so check them.

Data and privacy

Is Manorlogic safe for our residents' data?

Each estate's data is kept separate from every other estate's, and access is limited by role, so a guard cannot see finance. The server checks passes. Changes to money, passes and gate records are logged. We do not claim independent certification, and two-factor sign-in is not built yet. The security and privacy page has the detail.

Is Manorlogic NDPA compliant?

We do not claim that. Manorlogic is built with the Nigeria Data Protection Act in mind: residents can request a copy of their data or ask for it to be erased, and changes to financial and gate records are logged. Whether an estate or a product complies is a legal question for counsel and the regulator, and we do not answer it for you.

Can residents ask for a copy of their data, or for erasure?

Yes. A resident can request a copy of their data, and the manager fulfils the request. A resident can also ask for their personal details to be erased. The manager approves or rejects it, and approved erasure anonymises the person's details. Invoices and payments are kept so the estate's accounts stay whole.

Apps and everyday use

Are the apps in the App Store or Google Play?

Not yet. The resident app and the guard app are built for iPhone and Android and are not in the app stores. We agree with each pilot estate how guards and residents get them. Managers use the web app. Accounts exist only by invitation from your estate, so there is nothing to download from this website.

Can we keep using our WhatsApp group?

Yes. Residents share their visitor passes on WhatsApp. Manorlogic keeps what a chat cannot: a record of who entered, who paid and who approved. There is no WhatsApp integration, and the app is in English with amounts in naira.

Still have a question?
