Visitor passes your guards can check at the gate

A Manorlogic visitor pass is a QR code and a six-digit code that a resident creates for a guest. The guard scans it or types the code, and the server refuses a pass that has expired, been cancelled or been used up. Entries and exits are logged.

How do visitor passes work?

A resident opens the app, taps Visitors and fills in the guest's name and phone number. A vehicle plate number is optional.

The resident then chooses how long the pass works: 2 hours, 8 hours, 24 hours or 3 days. They can make it single-entry, so it works once.

The app shows a QR code and a six-digit code. The resident shares the pass from the phone, to WhatsApp or any other app on their phone.

Manorlogic does not text the pass to your visitor. The resident sends it, the way they would send any message.

What happens at the gate?

  1. The guard scans the QR code. If the code will not scan, the guard types the six digits.

  2. The app shows a verdict. Valid, expired, cancelled, not yet valid or already used, with the visitor's name, the host unit and the time window.

  3. The guard logs the entry. At that moment the server checks the pass again and counts one use. A second guard who tries the same single-entry code is refused.

  4. The resident is told. Their phone gets an alert when the visitor arrives.

  5. The guard logs the exit. Leaving does not use up the pass.

The server makes the call, so an old screen on a guard's phone cannot let a spent pass through.

What if a visitor has no pass?

The guard enters the visitor's name, picks the unit and taps "Request resident approval". The resident sees Approve and Deny on their phone. If the resident approves, the guard logs the entry. If nobody answers within 15 minutes, the request lapses.

A pass that has lapsed can be rescued the same way. If the resident approves live, the guard can let that visitor in once. A cancelled pass cannot be rescued.

Who gets told, and can a pass be cancelled?

A resident can cancel a pass at any time, and it stops working.

By default the head of household and spouse are told when a visitor arrives. The household chooses who else is told, and can also choose to be told when a visitor leaves.

When a guard names the unit for a walk-in, that household is told someone has arrived.

What do managers get from visitor passes?

A log of gate entries and exits that shows who logged each one and when. Entries are not edited. A correction is a new entry.

Managers export the gate log as a spreadsheet.
